Classes

Because we can’t sell our beer yet (that’s a different TABC tangent), we like to give it away. And one of the best ways to do that is by enjoying a few pints while we teach friends & fans about the finer points of homebrewing. Everything we do at the TreeStrike garage is something you can do at home, too.

[warning]You MUST be at least 21 years old to attend and participate in a TBC class. A valid driver’s license or photo ID is required. Payment is due at class start. At this time, we accept only cash or checks. (We’re working on PayPal for online credit card payments. Stay tuned.) Class dates vary depending on interest. Tell us what you’d like to do, and we’ll do our best to accommodate your schedule. [/warning]

All-Grain Homebrew 101Homebrew Express: Extract OnlyBrew Workshops
This is our most basic class, though a step up from some homebrew techniques because we start from grain (as opposed to extract). We do a single brew session, starting with a few beer tastings and an overview of taste characteristics. Then we move hands-on through the entire brew process, answering questions along the way. Matthew explains how he developed and adapted his brewing techniques to suit his particular environment and preferences, and he’ll explore ways that other people might solve problems and use their own creativity when making beer.

Class duration: 6 hours
Level of difficulty: Beginner to Intermediate
Price: $75 includes lunch, snacks & instructional materials, $65 includes snacks & instruction only (BYO lunch)

Though we prefer to start from grain, many homebrewers learn the process best when they begin at a more basic level. This class takes students through an entire brew session, starting from a malt extract (as opposed to grain). When we start with extract, the process is faster, but the results can be different. Matthew explains how he fared with extract brews and answers questions about how and when a homebrewer should consider the upgrade from extract to grain. And of course, we’ll do some beer tastings to learn more about flavor variables.

Class duration: 4 hours
Level of difficulty: Beginner
Price: $60 includes lunch, snacks & instructional materials, $50 includes snacks & instruction only (BYO lunch)
